TRASIMENO LAKE (LAKE TRASIMENE)

   A large lake toward the eastern edge of Etruria, most famous for the Roman defeat by Hannibal, that in Etruscan times formed the boundary between Chiusi and Perugia and was a focus for small settlements and sanctuaries.
